Main Purpose of Job

The Audio Visual CAD Technician role offers vocational experience with a view to progression into more Senior Engineering positions at Sysco Productions and encompasses both Design and Production Engineering disciplines.

The Audio Visual CAD Technician is responsible for producing engineering drawings in line with a project delivery program and as directed by Leading or Senior Engineers. This will include CAD system schematics and block diagrams, general arrangement drawings, 2D and 3D projection geometry layouts, rack layouts and 2D & 3D mechanical drawings. Further duties include maintaining the companies CAD filing systems and drawing templates.

The Audio Visual CAD Technician is also responsible for completing further engineering drawings to support other stakeholders and engineers within the project delivery team. All technical engineering drawings produced will be signed off as compliant by a Leading or Senior Engineer.

The Audio Visual CAD Technician works under the direction of the Engineering Head of Department and will work collaboratively to evolve working practices and processes to drive efficiency through the department. 

Key Responsibilities

  1. To complete Engineering drawings as required on a project by project basis.
  2. To produce required technical drawings, including, but not limited to, system schematics and block diagrams, general arrangement drawings, 2D and 3D projection geometry layouts, rack layouts and 2D & 3D mechanical drawings.
  3. To maintain drawing templates and key equipment blocks
  4. To maintain CAD filing systems across the company
  5. To attend key milestone meetings on Sysco installation projects
  6. To support Project Delivery Team throughout the project delivery process to ensure they receive appropriate information to allow the timely delivery of Sysco projects.

Experience / Qualifications

  • 2D and 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) experience
  • Good working knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant experience in Audio Visual or related industry.
  • Understanding of Audio Visual Technology
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects
