The David Bowie Centre is part of the V&A East programme at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, expanding how the V&A shares collections through V&A East Storehouse and the wider campus. Opened in September 2025, the Centre is the permanent home for Bowie’s archive, bringing a working collection into public view.

The archive comprises more than 90,000 items, including handwritten lyrics, costumes, instruments, album artwork, photography and sketches spanning six decades. The Centre builds on the V&A’s earlier work with the archive, including the landmark David Bowie Is exhibition in 2013, which Sysco also supported through immersive audio-visual interpretation.

Rather than a conventional exhibition, the David Bowie Centre combines study areas with rotating displays and audio-visual moments that reveal Bowie’s creative process across music, performance, design and image-making. Around 200 objects are presented at a time through curated mini-displays, supported by the Order an Object service, which allows visitors to request items for closer viewing.
Sysco joined the project in 2022 as the experiential technology partner, delivering the audio-visual infrastructure that supports a visitor-led experience. Our role focused on engineering and integrating the AV systems that enable changing installations, including technical foundations for large-format media, spatialised sound and projection, alongside adaptable infrastructure for evolving interpretation and guest-curated selections.

Across the Storehouse, Sysco also delivered integrated systems including video walls, digital signage, immersive sound environments and flexible AV capability, designed to sit discreetly within the architecture while maintaining clarity and reliability in a working collections setting.
As the V&A East programme continues to develop, Sysco’s work supports both the
day-to-day operation of a public-facing archive and the ongoing evolution of future spaces across the site.
