Main Purpose of Job

The Procurement Lead is a key member of the procurement team and will play a vital role in supporting the business in its largest outgoing cost area. The role will be supporting sales with tender pricing, leading and maintaining agreed procurement strategies for ongoing live projects as well as managing the day to day activities in the procurement department. The procurement Lead will assist in negotiating or renegotiating supplier contracts nationally and internationally and have a vital role in the cost cutting activity and the project by project & overall procurement strategy within Sysco Productions.

The Procurement Lead will be reporting to the head of Commercial & Finance and business partner closely with the Sales department, Operations and Finance. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading the procurement department day to day
  • Lead with input from Operation, Service and Finance departments; organise, prioritise, coordinate and monitor purchasing requirements and source parts on time and as a minimum on cost
  • Develop procurement plans together with project managers on a project by project basis
  • Assist with negotiating and renegotiating supplier contracts
  • Negotiate supplier payment terms in accordance with client contract and payment terms  - in partnership with Finance and Quantitative Surveyor
  • Ensure payment applications is issued on time and that finance is aware of key points for invoicing
  • Assist in building an international supplier network
  • Build an overall procurement strategy for the business, including a prefered supplier list
  • Assist the Sales department with tender and bid pricing
  • Procurement analysis and reporting

Experience / Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level
  • MCIPS qualified or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years in a leading role in a engineering / reseller environment
  • Intermediate to Advanced MS Office and Excel skills, pivot tables, vlookup, IF formulas, what if analysis and other
  • Excellent IT capabilities
  • Eque2 Construct (previously Sage 50 Construct) knowledge is an advantage
